Cage Match Finale!!

April 25, 2011

Can you hear that Rocky music playing?

Dunnuh dunh Dunnuh dunh….

And the crowd goes WILD. Raaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh!

We’ve hit the final round and we’ve all been sitting on the edges of our seats, waiting, wondering, who will take home the title?

Will it be Kimberly Kinrade, the self-proclaimed underdog triumph or will Ann Charles‘ heroin Violet Parker walk all over her with those infamous purple boots?

It is up to YOU!

Yep, you. Who else?

No, not in comments! By email at

But first, let’s hear from our champs!!

Kimberly taunts:

“Last Wednesday, I was the Underdog going up against John Sundman and his award winning cyber-punk techno-thriller novel of epic scariness. But like Rocky, I prevailed! Rising from the ashes of my victory, like the legend of the Phoenix, I have been reborn a champion, thanks to all of you who bet on me against the odds and threw a punch against my opponent!

With copious amounts of exclamation points!, an arsenal of #hashtags and a plethora of comments, #Victorywasours!

Now you have a chance to back the Underdog, Reborn! My new opponent fights dirty with ANOTHER award winning novel! Ann Charles, author of the creepy, funny, and totally relatable (Not that I’ve been shot in the ass…) “Nearly Departed in Deadwood.” #iknow #fabuloustitle #notjealousATALL is ready to rumble with some serious girl on girl action today #notTHATkind #Sheesh!

So why should you vote for me? (besides the #rockinghashtaguse?)

While my newly published book “Bits of You & Pieces of Me” has yet to win any awards, it has received rave reviews as being a work of epic genius and soulful, poetic beauty. You will laugh, cry and feel all the shades of pain and love that make up life.

There’s something here for everyone. Heart-wrenching poetry. Insightful essays on life and love. Painful reflections on domestic violence. Poignant short stories in horror, drama and even a zombie fantasy! (BTW, Ann does not have a SINGLE zombie in her book! #WTH? #anotherplusforme!)

For those who crave inspiration, enjoy the short story “The Minute” and rethink everything you thought you knew about time if you found a Minute hiding under your bed!

By voting for me, you bring awareness to domestic violence (It can happen to anyone, #trustme), you fill the world with inspiration, and most importantly, you give a few misunderstood zombies their day to shine! #howcanyouresist!”

Ann rebuffs:

“Word on the street is that Kimberly “the Killer” Kinrade has a deadly move she picked up from studying black widow spiders hopped up on crack cocaine.

Am I shaking in my purple cowboy boots?

Oh, hell yes, but I’m not backing down—not unless she shows her poisonous fangs, then I’m running as fast as my boots will go. Just call me Ann “the Scrapper” Charles. For today’s final match, I studied some key movies that will put me over the top:

  • The Predator (I need to practice that icky face, it will surely make her whimper)
  • The Mummy (the ability to shoot nasty bugs from my mouth when I hiss will surely come in handy by mid-day)
  • Raiders of the Lost Ark (I just like to play with whips).

Then I’m going to NOT brush my teeth for two days after eating garlic and onions on everything and roll around in a big bin of habanero peppers—this will have her crying in the ring before we even start to tangle. Kimberly “the Killer” has a real smooth way with words, being an ace author with a wonderful book, but I’m bringing my thesaurus with me, so watch out! Ann “freakin’” Charles won’t go down without a fight.”

Vote NOW:

In an email to , subject line “Cage Match Rocks,” tell us who YOU see as the champ. (Yes, of course, you can vote for both!) And, for extra love, please let us know what your favorite part about this tour has been.

Psssst! Don’t miss the ten ebooks up for grabs! Today is the LAST day to do so.

As you waffle over what to type, maybe you’d like a little weigh in from the other authors?

Rachel says:

“@RachelintheOC, aka Rachel Thompson, author of A Walk In The Snark: @GPWriter (aka George Pappas), author of Monogamy Sucks was a worthy opponent and may have kicked my booty, but hey, it’s a nice booty. We both had a blast, gained new followers, connected with lots of new readers, and sent out a ton of free eBooks. And ultimately, isn’t that what writing is all about? #yeababy”

A.M. says :

“Ann Charles: Who would’ve thought mystery could be so fun? Ann Charles makes sleuthing more entertaining, more witty, but also incredibly gripping. A great read, combining humour, romance, mystery, and the paranormal.

Kimberly Kinrade: Poetic, heart-breaking and beautifully subtle. Kimberly Kinrade sweeps you in with an anthology of short stories, essays, and poems exploring the darker side of our relationships.”

George says:

“Bits of You & Pieces of Me, Kimberly Kinrade:

Through her brave and eclectic writing, author Kimberly Kinrade bares her soul, shines a light on the dark periods of her relationship past and reveals her compelling personal journey in finding love and redemption.

Her novel Bits of You & Pieces of Me offers honest, breathtaking prose and poems about one woman’s heartbreaking and painful awakening from the darkness of abuse and neglect to experience the joy of discovering the redemptive powers of love. Be sure to comment on her blog during her championship cage match to get a free copy of her e-book.

Nearly Dead in Deadwood, Ann Charles:

Walk the perilous streets of Deadwood in the boots of one tough heroine Violet Parker as she investigates a series of bizarre murders in Ann Charles’s award-winning novel Nearly Dead in Deadwood. Be sure to weigh in her bid to become the Blog Tour de Force champion with a comment on her blog to earn a free copy of her e-book.”

Amber says:

“I’ve been a long time fan of Ann Charles mysteries. Violet Parker’s sidekick, Harvey, makes me guffaw. I’m not a guffaw kind of person. It’s soooo good.

Kimberly Kinrade’s amazing work touched me deeply. It resonated not only because of my past but because of her eloquent delivery. I dare a reader not to feel branded by it.

I gave it a good fight with “Fierce Dawn” and I’m holding my head high seeing these two in the ring. When readers are done voting here, I’ll be ready to hand over their free ebook of “Fierce Dawn!” It’s addictive and it only takes a comment to score it!”

Suzanne says:

“Ann: Kooky, spooky, suspenseful fun in Deadwood”

Cristyn says:

“Two amazing and well deserving authors. What a week and what a thrill!

Thrill you say? “Plain Jane”
She might not have won a spot in the championship round, but she has still got some fight left in her!
